Today's recipe is... POHA. Also Called as POHE, Beaten or Flattened Rice or Chivda..
 
POHA is one of the most famous recipe of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat, usually taken in breakfast. It is one of the mots healthy and delicious breakfast recipe. It is an easy recipe which can be prepared quickly at any time of the day.



Lets have the recipe as below:-

  • Preparation Time: 05 Minutes (Approx.)
  • Cooking Time: 10 Minutes (Approx.)
  • Vegetarian Recipe  

Ingredients:
  1. POHE (Beaten or Flattened Rice): 02 Cups
  2. Green Chilli: 02 Nos. (can be increased / decreased as per taste)
  3. Salt: 3/4 Table Spoon (can be increased / decreased as per taste)
  4. Sugar: 1/4 Table Spoon (OPTIONAL)
  5. Turmeric Powder: 3/4 Table Spoon
  6. Onion: 01 Big
  7. Cinnamon (Daalchini): 01 Inch
  8. Fennel (Sauf): 1/4 Table Spoon
  9. Cumin (Zeera): 1/4 Table Spoon
  10. Black Mustard Seeds: 1/4 Table Spoon
  11. Green Curry Leaves: 10 Nos.
  12. Peanuts: 1/4 Cup
  13. Sev: For Decoration
  14. Green Coriander: Few fresh leaves 
  15. Oil: 02 Table Spoon

Preparation:
  1. Soak Pohe (Beaten or Flattened Rice) in 03 Cups of for 03-04 minutes, then drain it.
  2. Finely chop onions in 02 portions (01 for cooking and 01 for decorations/presentation).
  3. Finely chop green chillies.
  4. Finely chop fresh leaves of green coriander
 Process:  
  1. Start with putting a pan on medium heat. Add 01 table of oil, let the oil heat and then add peanuts. Roast them for around 05-06 continuously stirring so that they may not get burnt. Take the roasted peanuts out from the pan.
  2. In the same pan, add 01 table spoon of oil. Add chopped green chillies, cinnamon stick, fennels, cumin and mustard seeds. Crackle them for 10 seconds, don't let it burn. Add 1/2 of chopped onion and curry leaves. Bhunno for a minutes.
  3. When the onion becomes translucent, add 3/4 table spoon of turmeric powder along with salt as per taste. Mix the salt and turmeric well.
  4. Add the soaked Pohe and mix well. Turn the flame to low and add 1/4 table spoon of sugar. Addition of sugar is completely optional.
  5. Add roasted peanuts and finely chop fresh leaves of green coriander.
Plate in an bowl. Garnish with finely chop onions, green coriander leaves and Sev.
